The book for April, chosen by Julie, is My Name is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok.
Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to get this book in electronic format from the library, and probably won't be able to for another 12-15 weeks. I cannot find it anywhere else. So, paper is probably going to be the only option for a while.
This book really held me attention. I enjoyed reading it, but I felt it was pretty depressing. At first I found it difficult to read because I was unfamiliar with the Jewish terms and places, but it was fairly easy to deal with that and just assume some things. But I did find the whole story very sad and unsettling. Our Newspaper teacher at school said that book is in her top 5 books of all times and she is pretty liberal, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was well worth reading, but a little bit unbelievable and a little too depressing for me. It is nice to read a good variety of books. I love our bookclub! Good choice, Julie!
